Te Kinga Lake Day

Yesterday, our class had a lake day. We started by walking down the street and to the Velinski track. While we were there one of our groups practised first aid with their leader, when we had to do our first aid they came up with a random thing that might occur during the walks, the leader of the other group had hypothermia and the people In their team had the goal to give them warmth and bring them to shelter. When we did this we only had 3 minutes but It ran out of time and they failed. After we had exited the track we left off for the swing-bridge track and did the full loop before leaving to go have lunch at the rocks near the pontoon. Once we had finished digging In to our food we went back to the swing-bridge and we practised our first aid a few more times then we left the track and went to the beach and set our stuff on the sand and had a competition for who could build the best shelter from things on the beach. Surprisingly, the team I was In won. We then left off In our little groups to make fires, we even got to make s'mores! We sat down for a while to eat our treats we have created before packing our things up and making our way back to the school, and got on the bus and left for home.

Art smart

This week we took pictures of plants and other things outside In the rain. I decided that I wanted to take a picture of a tunnel that we have in our school and edit the picture a bit before showing her the picture. 

Anzac Art!

In our class we had the students in the lower year join us and we created Anzac day art, we had until lunchtime to complete the artworks, we all completed them In time before lunch and they all looked amazing. Here is the picture that I drew.

Natural Disasters

In our class we have been learning about natural disasters and have chosen to write a narrative about them. My one was about a landslide around my house, my favourite part of It was when the landslide had stopped, my teacher came and tried to steal our puppies until she saw all of the damage that had been done to the house and she  called emergency services to help us get out. We spent quite a few days working on them and they all turned out really great.

Top Teams 2021 Term 1

Today our school did the Top Teams challenge. We were split Into groups of six

and we did nine challenges, at the end they announced the winners and the top three. My 

favourite activity was the Burst Pipe where you had to float a small ball out of the pipe that had holes In It. The whole school gave It a go and all had a great time doing the challenges.

 

World Wildlife day

 At school we had world wildlife day where we dressed up as Jungle and Forest Animals. Then we did an art project using any Jungle/Forest Animal, we used crayons and dye, to complete the looks. Here is the picture that I made, a panther.We all did a picture, there were Elephants, Giraffes and even Pandas, all the drawings that they did were amazing.

My First Week Back At School

 On February 3rd, I went back to school. It was the first day back at school for 2021, the first day back was pretty normal, we settled In to our class quite fast, we sorted all our stuff and went out for some games on the court and field. I was really happy to see my friends again and meet other people at Lake Brunner School 2021.

Why Its Good To Make Mistakes In Your Learning.

 It Is quite Important to make to make mistakes In your learning, It helps you do better and Improve your skills, I have made heaps of mistakes in my life and I have learned from them and It got me where I am now, In the biggest class In our school, going to high school next year.

Gala 2020

Come to our 2020 twilight gala on Friday the 13th of November where we have cotton candy, fresh chips and much more!

Nice soaps and plants for everyone and lots of nice prizes to be won

Why Less Music Should Be Made.

 In Te Kinga we have been learning to write and present speeches. it was hard to think of one but then i figured out my topic. then i decided to write why less music should be made. it took me a while to research but i finally figured it out.

Today i had made a Screencastify of me reading my speech. I have used my Chromebook, and both the mic and camera off my Chromebook to record me reading the speech.

i have been trying to look as serious as poosible and try to learn it of by heart.

To My Dearest Mother,

This trip has turned out to be horrid

Grandfather has been drinking a lot more than normal from this new liquid he found, he calls it beer and  hes been drinking with a lot of other women and men

Now he is very ill and i don't think he will last long, he says he is fine but he is going green and looking like a bug.

We are in the middle of nowhere, we can't find land, so i sent this letter to you in a bottle and i hope to see you very soon.

Bridge Valley Camp 2020

For camp we went to bridge valley adventure camp and it was awesome. We did rock climbing, drift trikes, flying fox, a raft race and a lot more. the beds were nice and i slept quite well. When we got there, we did the rock climbing and low ropes. The second day we

Facts About Lorde

Fibonacci Work

So in our class we have been learning about Fibonacci. Fibonacci is like spiral stuff like on a flower where all the nectar is stored or a sprouting koru. So our class tried it and here is my one.

my one is a blocky spiral using the Fibonacci number as long as my page would let it. Of course it isnt the greatest but i did try my best. Everyone tried thier best and they turned out amazing.

Sailing

on Monday our class and the class bellow us went sailing on lake Brunner for an hour and 30 minutes. it was really fun but it was a bit scary but here is a picture.

we learned about lots of things like the centreboard,main sheet and the rudder. at one point when we where sailing we had to capt  side our boats which  was a bit scary but fun but i got lots of water in my sleeve and we had so much fun.

Science Report

Science experiment exploding lunch bag 

Title: lunch bag BOOMER !!!

Hypothesis: we think that the ziplock bag will be a bigger reaction if we add more hot water.

Equipment: 

  1.A tissue

  2.White vinegar

  3. White & Red packet baking soda

  4. Hot, Warm or Cold water 

  5. Ziplock bag 

  6. Teaspoon 

  7. Measuring Cup or a cup.

  

Method: 

Step 1: Fill your measuring cup to ¼ of water 

Step 2: Fill the ziplock bag to ½ of White Vinegar

Step 3: Put your Tissue on a flat surface 

Step 4: Put 3 teaspoons of White & Red packet baking Soda in the middle of the Tissue

Step 5: Wrap the Tissue like an envelope 

Step 6: Go outside

Step 7:Put the tissue in the snaplock bag   

Step 8:close the ziplock bag really tight and fast 

Step 9: shake it 

Step 10: Wait till the lunch bag EXPLODES!!!!

Results:

The explosion was smaller than we expected but it was really fun.

Conclusion: we thought it would be big but it was not.
